(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain Donald G. Gumz, United States Navy, was awarded a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commander Fleet Air Whidbey/Commander Fleet Air Wing FOUR from 3 December 1963 to 17 June 1966, for his work in exercising Naval Air Force Fleet Type heavy attack squadrons and for the training complex designed for the introduction of the A-6A attack aircraft to the Pacific Fleet.
