    The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Lieutenant Commander John Mark Tiderman (NSN: 0-559375), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Attack Squadron NINETY-FOUR (VA-94), embarked in U.S.S. ENTERPRISE (CVAN-65), during operations against enemy aggressor forces in Vietnam from 2 December 1965 to 21 March 1966. On numerous combat missions in support of friendly forces against heavily defended targets, Lieutenant Commander Tiderman carried out damaging attacks in the face of adverse weather and intense and accurate hostile fire, contributing greatly to the success of many vitally important combat strikes.
