(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Commander (MC) Robert E. Thompson, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from 1 April to 4 August 1964 as Team Leader of the Project SEALAB 1 aquanauts. Under his direction, the project team collected unique information which will be the basis for future naval underwater technology.
