(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Rear Admiral William Thackeray Nelson, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Director, Ships Material Readiness Division, Office of the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations, Logistics, from April 1961 to May 1963, and as Chief, Military Assistance Advisory Group, Denmark, from August 1963 to June 1965, by his accomplishments in developing the concept of the Navy’s Standard Maintenance and Material Management (3d Marines) System, and by his contributions to the posture of Denmark’s military forces.
