The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Rear Admiral Edward E. Colestock, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Chief, Navy Section, Military Assistance Advisory Group Brazil; and Senior U.S. Naval Representative to the Joint Brazil-United States Military Commission, from 4 January 1963 to 20 April 1965. In these positions, Rear Admiral Colestock helped further the interests of the mutual security of the United States and Brazil, providing guidance on all phases of the Military Assistance Program and rendering valuable service to the Brazilian Navy through discussion and exchange of ideas. He has contributed toward advancing the capability of the Brazilian Navy in defense interests common to both Brazil and the United States.
