    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant George Harris Anderson (NSN: 0-116845), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while attached to Admiral Byrd’s Operation HIGH JUMP in Antarctica from 2 December 1946 to 14 April 1947. His devotion to duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) to Lieutenant George Harris Anderson (NSN: 0-116845), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight during the period from 13 July to 17 July 1943. Lieutenant Anderson completed twenty flights in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred. His conduct throughout has distinguished him among those performing duties of the same character.
