Allyn (NSN: 0-125069), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving with Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED FORTY-TWO (VB-142) in the Pacific area from 7 May to 15 May 1944. Lieutenant Allyn completed his fortieth flight in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred. His conduct throughout has distinguished him among those performing duties of the same character.
