    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Ensign James Arthur Warren (NSN: 0-156661), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while piloting a combat plane against the Japanese in the Solomon Islands area during World War II. On one occasion Ensign Warren destroyed an enemy plane after attacking a hostile group and later shot down two Japanese dive bombers which threatened our vessels. He carried out many hazardous missions from 31 August to 23 December 1943.
