(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Commander (MC), [then Lieutenant Commander] Hubert John Van Peenen (NSN: 0-62189), United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as a Prisoner of War at Zentsuji War Prison Camp on Shikoku Island, Japan, from 1 September 1942 to 23 June 1945.
