Sartin (NSN: 0-43766), United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Senior American Medical Officer and Japanese-recognized Commanding Officer of Bilibid Prison Hospital while interned there as a Prisoner of War from 30 May 1942 to 26 September 1943.
