Rainey (NSN: 0-85927), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Commander of a Patrol Bomber in Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-ONE (VPB-121), over Wake and Ponape Islands, Iwo Jima, Chichi Jima, and Japan, from 7 March 1945 to 11 August 1945.
