(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade Phil Perabo (NSN: 0-116348), United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action by his strafing attacks on a submarine in the Atlantic during World War II. Lieutenant, Junior Grade, Perabo made three attacks before the submarine submerged and then, after it had re-surfaced, he executed two more attacks, which damaged the U-boat’s conning tower and weather decks. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
