    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Second Lieutenant (Air Corps) Marion Malcolm, United States Army Air Corps (Reserve), for heroism, not involving actual conflict with an enemy, displayed at Lake St. Clair, Selfridge Field, Mt. Clemens, Michigan on 3 March 1937. Upon learning that a child had fallen through the ice on the lake about 50 yards from shore and was in gave danger of drowning, Lieutenant Malcolm, disregarding his own personal safety, broke through the thin ice, swam to the child and succeeded in bringing her safely to shore.
