Cox (NSN: 8669954), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as aircrewman of a Naval airplane in Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-ONE (VPB-121), over Wake, Ponape, Iwo Jima, Chichi Jima, Japan, from 7 March 1945 to 11 August 1945.
