Fireman Second Class Fred L. Brown (NSN: 2916833), United States Navy, was captured by the Japanese after his Gunboat U.S.S. ASHEVILLE (PG-21) was sunk on 3 March 1942, and was interned as a Prisoner of War until his death in captivity on or about 18 March 1945.
