(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Colonel (Air Corps) Michael Joseph Ingelido (ASN: 0-426393), United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as Pilot of a P-39 Airacobra Fighter Airplane of the 33d Fighter Squadron, Iceland Base Command, in aerial operations near Faxabay, Iceland, on 24 October 1942. On this date Second Lieutenant Michael Ingelido and Second Lieutenant Thurman Morrison shared in the destruction of a German FW-200 that was on a reconnaissance flight over the western area of Iceland. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Second Lieutenant Ingelido, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
