The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Bronze Star Medal to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Mary Rose Harrington (NSN: N-64942), United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as a nurse with the Canacao Hospital Unit during the bombing invasion of the Philippine Islands by Japanese forces for the period 7 December 1941 through 2 January 1942.
