Lieutenant, Junior Grade Virginia J. Fogarty (NSN: N-80178), United States Navy Nurse Corps, was captured by the Japanese after the fall of Guam on 9 December 1942, and was held as a Prisoner of War until her release in an exchange on the S.S. Gripsholm in June 1942.
