Abbott (NSN: 0-363551), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Composite Squadron TWO (VC-2), embarked in U.S.S. FANSHAW BAY (CVE-7), from 25 March 1945 to 22 June 1945. Ensign Abbott completed twenty flights in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred. His conduct throughout has distinguished him among those performing duties of the same character.
