The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Boiler Technician Third Class Walter Louis Feasel, United States Navy, for heroism while serving on board and assigned to the forward fireroom of the U.S.S. RICHMOND K. TURNER (DLG-20), on 19 February 1970, while the ship was moored to berth M-2 Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. When a casualty to the engineering plant occurred, Petty Officers Feasel and Russell rushed to the fireroom, which was dark with the temperature rising to a dangerous level, to assist in securing the boiler.
