(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Gunner Joseph D. Ramsey, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy. Gunner Ramsey was instrumental in saving the lives of several men on board the U.S.S. LEYTE (CVS-32) during explosions and fires at the Naval Shipyard, Boston, Massachusetts, on 16 October 1953.
