Kearns, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving with Fighter Squadron SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-ONE (VF-781), in action against enemy aggressor forces in Korea on 6 July 1951.
