Edwards, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving with Fighter Squadron SEVEN HUNDRED EIGHTY-ONE (VF-781), attached to Carrier Air Group ONE HUNDRED TWO, in action against enemy aggressor forces in Korea on 7 October 1951.
