(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant [then Lieutenant, Junior Grade] Roy Riser, United States Navy, was awarded a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving with Patrol Squadron FORTY-TWO (VP-42), in action against enemy aggressor forces in Korea from 23 August 1950 to 8 January 1951.
