The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Captain Benjamin B. C. Lovett, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Air Officer on the staff of Commander 7th Amphibious Force during World War II. Captain Lovett assisted in the preparation of plans for numerous vital combat operations in strategic war areas. He effectively coordinated the various forces involved and contributed materially to the success of task force operations.
