Guthrie, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit with Combat “V” for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States while serving on the Staff of Commander Carrier Division ONE and Commander Task Force 77, from 23 June to 18 December 1952.
