The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Navy Distinguished Service Medal (Posthumously) to Rear Admiral George Washington Pressey, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States as Deputy Chief of Staff Military Assistance, Logistics and Administration, Staff of Commander in Chief Pacific, from 21 May 1965 to 19 April 1966. Directly supervising all matters pertaining to the military assistance program and logistic support for all Pacific Command forces, Admiral Pressey was successful in carrying out his many responsibilities throughout this period. He was directly responsible for achieving the high state of logistic readiness of the United States forces engaged in the present conflict in Southeast Asia.
