(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain Gerald D. Zurmuehlen, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. UNION during amphibious training operations in Japan and amphibious operations against enemy forces in Korea on 18 July and 15 September 1950.
