(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain Joseph P. Thew, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commander Fleet Activities in Yokosuka, Japan, from 12 August 1952 through 4 June 1955. He contributed immeasurably to the effectiveness of friendly fleets during the Korean Conflict and to the high state of readiness since the signing of the armistice.
