Sundberg, United States Navy, was awarded a Third Gold Star in lieu of a Fourth Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Helicopter Unit ONE (HU-1) Detachment, in Korea, from 5 August 1950 to 16 February 1951.
