The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Private Keith E. Babb (ASN: 6711789), United States Army, for heroism, not involving actual conflict with an enemy, displayed while serving with Service Battery, 4th Coast Artillery Regiment, during a fire in the submarine mine-loading room at Fort Grant, Canal Zone, on 26 January, 1933. Private Babb forced his way into the mine-loading room and removed a burning box containing highly explosive mine detonators and extinguished the fire, thus preventing an explosion which would undoubtedly have resulted in serious damage to and loss of government property.
