(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Horace Melvin Hawkins (NSN: 0-156427), United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (Posthumously) for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Pilot of a Fighter Bomber Plane in Fighter Squadron EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY-ONE (VF-871), attached to U.S.S. PRINCETON (CV-37), during operations against enemy forces in Korea from 3 June to 22 July 1951.
