    Chief Warrant Officer David S. Williams, United States Army, was Pilot of an Apache Longbow helicopter of the 1st Battalion, 227 Helicopter Attack Battalion, that crashed in Karbala, Iraq, on 24 March 2003 during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. After attempting to evade, he was captured by Iraqi forces and held as a Prisoner of War until his recovery on 13 April 2003.
