The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Adam E. Bizio (ASN: 33174821), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company F, 2d Battalion, 318th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States on 5 February 1945 in Germany. While deep in the Siegfried Line on reconnaissance patrol, Staff Sergeant Bizio assumed command of the men when the leader became a casualty. Then under severe hostile fire he crawled 75 yards over hazardous terrain to assault and capture a gun position. The prisoners revealed information paramount to future attacks. Staff Sergeant Bizio’s courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
