The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to First Lieutenant (Infantry), [the Second Lieutenant] Saul B. Kadison (ASN: 0-1304906), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 317th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States on 2 October 1944 in France. At Sivry, France, during a fierce counterattack, Lieutenant Kadison deployed his mortar section as riflemen and led them with such skill and aggressiveness that he drove the enemy from the sector and subsequently caused the complete surrender of a German garrison. Lieutenant Kadison’s bravery and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
