The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant (then Technician Fifth Grade) Frank B. Nunn (ASN: 37149706), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 610th Tank Destroyer Battalion, 80th Infantry Division, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States on 24 December 1944 in Luxembourg. When his tank destroyer was damaged at Neiderfeulen, Luxembourg, Sergeant Nunn, the driver, observed an enemy rocket team approaching. Armed with an automatic rifle he boldly assaulted and drove off the enemy, after which he drove his partially disabled vehicle to safety. Sergeant Nunn’s courage, aggressiveness, and loyal devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
