The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain (Infantry) Myron Gold (ASN: 0-1301292), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 80th Infantry Division in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States from 6 to 11 February 1945 in Germany. During this period, Captain Gold skillfully led the first infantry company across the swollen Our River and into the Siegfried Line. With limitless energy, he personally led the attack on and seizure of three enemy pillboxes and captured the heights above Wallendorf, Germany. By his inspiring actions and physical assistance, supplies were carried to his men, casualties were evacuated, and the hard won position controlled. Captain Gold’s aggressive energy, inspiring leadership, and sincere devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
