Headquarters, 80th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 88 (March 29, 1945)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Staff Sergeant [then Sergeant] Frank M. Buzun (ASN: 31428169), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 319th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States on 23 December 1944 in Luxembourg. During an attack against Tadler, Luxembourg, on 23 December 1944, Staff Sergeant Buzun, a squad leader, was given the mission of deploying his squad so as to prevent the escape of the foe across the Sure River. Under heavy hostile machine gun and mortar fire he ably directed his men in the destruction of an enemy vehicle and deprived the enemy of their only escape route. His courage, efficiency, and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
