The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Specialist James Darnell, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious achievement as Medic, Company A, 2d Battalion, 7th Infantry, 24th Infantry Division (Mechanized), from 15 February 1991 to 11 March 1991, during Operation DESERT STORM. Specialist Darnell’s actions were instrumental in treating, stabilizing, and preparing for transport a Task Force Scout wounded by Iraqi fire during a battle to cut enemy supply lines in the Euphrates River Valley. Specialist Darnell’s outstanding performance of duty is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself, this command, and the United States Army.
