When the 3d Infantry Division conducted the final attack on Baghdad, Captain Hibner’s unit was a lead element, attacking to breach obstacles on the only feasible avenues of approach that led into the city center and Saddam’s Palaces, establishing a deliberate breach from the west. Captain Hibner’s gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
