The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Technician Fourth Grade Billy M. Condry (ASN: 6298120), United States Army, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an armed enemy in France on 2 December 1944, while serving with the 80th Infantry Division. When a comrade was showered with flaming gasoline, Technician Fourth Grade Condry, by quick and resourceful action and with utter disregard for his own safety, extinguished the fire and saved the life of the stricken soldiers. His heroic and unhesitating conduct were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
