Headquarters, 80th Infantry Division, General Orders No. 94 (December 4, 1944)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Lloyd L. Fouts (ASN: 35359366), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 80th Infantry Division in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States from 10 to 12 October 1944. During this period, Private First Class Fouts distinguished himself by gallantry in action when, with utter disregard for his own safety and in the face of heavy artillery fire, he voluntarily and successfully evacuated wounded comrades in many trips to the front lines and back. The outstanding bravery, aggressiveness, and sincere devotion to duty displayed by Private First Class Fouts were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.
