The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Harry A. Morgan (ASN: 6980312), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the Medical Detachment, 1st Infantry Division in the period from January to April 1943. During an enemy air attack, Private Morgan, observing that several bombs had fallen in the area occupied by his company, left the comparative safety of his fox hole to render first aid to those wounded. Despite the increasing intensity of the enemy bombing and strafing, Private Morgan continued to render aid to the wounded, inspiring his fellow soldiers. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
