Eugene Weaver was a World War II B-17 bomber pilot in the U.S. Army Air Forces, serving in Europe. He entered Federal service (CIA) in 1949 and was serving as a civilian advisor to MACV when he was captured in Hue on January 31, 1968. He was held in captivity until his release on March 16, 1973.
