James Simpson was an American Civilian working for Decca Navigation Systems, Inc., in South Vietnam when he and British civilian Thomas Cornthwaite, a fellow employee, were captured and held prisoner while driving on Highway 1 on November 5, 1968. The two men were reportedly killed attempting to escape a few days after their capture. Their remains have never been recovered.
