The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Brian J. Seek, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-4E Weapon Systems Officer over Southeast Asia on 23 April 1972. On that date, Lieutenant Seek flew in a flight of fighter-bombers engaged in striking a heavily defended petroleum products storage area. Despite marginal weather, extremely hazardous terrain and intense hostile ground fire, Lieutenant Seek assisted the aircraft commander in placing ordnance precisely on target, resulting in ten seven thousand gallon storage tanks destroyed, fifteen large secondary explosions, and over forty small and medium secondary explosions and fires, severely damaging the logistical capability of the hostile forces in Southeast Asia. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Seek reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
