(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Commander James Lloyd Griffin, United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Reconnaissance Attack (Heavy) Squadron 13 (RVAH-13), embarked in U.S.S. KITTY HAWK (CVW-11), in action over Southeast Asia in 1967. His gallant and untiring devotion to duty was at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
