James Griffin graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1955. He was interned as a Prisoner of War in North Vietnam after he was shot down on May 19, 1967 and was held until his death in captivity two days later on May 21, 1967. His remains were recovered and returned on March 13, 1973.
