The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Command Sergeant Major Thomas James Davis (ASN: 67109430), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from December 1991 to November 1995 while serving as the Command Sergeant Major, 385th Military Police Battalion and then as Command Sergeant Major, 10th Military Police Brigade, V Corps, United States Army, Europe. Command Sergeant Major Davis significantly improved the combat readiness of his battalion and brigade especially in training development and noncommissioned officer professionalism. Command Sergeant Major Davis’ outstanding leadership, inspiring personal and professional example, and devotion to soldiers and their families reflect distinctive credit upon him, V Corps and the United States Army.

(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Staff Sergeant Thomas James Davis (ASN: 67109430), United States Army, for meritorious achievement in action against an armed enemy of the United States while detained as a Prisoner of War in Southeast Asia during the period 11 March 1968 to 16 March 1973. His ceaseless efforts, by a continuous showing of resistance to an enemy who ignored all international agreements on treatment of prisoners of war, in the extremely adverse conditions of the communist prisons of Southeast Asia demonstrated his professional competence, unwavering devotion and loyalty to his country. Despite the harsh treatment through his long years of incarceration, this American continued to perform his duties in a clearly exceptional manner which reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Bronze Star to Staff Sergeant Thomas James Davis (ASN: 67109430), United States Army, for outstandingly meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. During the period 1967 to 1973 he consistently manifested exemplary professionalism and initiative in obtaining outstanding results. His rapid assessment and solution of numerous problems inherent in a combat environment greatly enhanced the allied effectiveness against a determined and aggressive enemy. Despite many adversities, he invariably performed his duties in a resolute and efficient manner. Energetically applying his sound judgment and extensive knowledge, he has contributed materially to the successful accomplishment of the United States mission in the Republic of Vietnam. His loyalty, diligence and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
