The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Sergeant First Class Alejandro J. Arroyo, United States Army, for exceptionally valorous conduct in the face of the enemy of the Unites States as a Military Transition Team Advisor, 2d Battalion, 1st Brigade, 3d Infantry Division Military Transition Team, in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM III on 27 June 2005. With disregard to his own personal safety, he bounded from his position of safety under enemy fire to a downed helicopter. After securing the pilots, he further risked his life to remove sensitive items from the burning aircraft. His heroism resulted in saving the lives of two U.S. Pilots and prevented military equipment from falling into the hands of the enemy. His action are in keeping with the finest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon him, Multi-National Force Northwest, and the United States Army.
